Tens or better Video Poker

In Tens or Better the standard Jacks or Better pay table has been augmented with a Pair of Tens. So you will also win if you have a Pair of Tens, which isn't the case in Jacks or Better obviously. The volatility of Tens or Better is comparable to that of Jacks or Better (not very volatile), but the expected return is generally a little lower.

A full pay Tens or Better pay table looks as follows:

Hands Full pay
Royal Flush 800
Straight Flush 50
Four of a Kind 25
Full House 6
Flush 5
Straight 4
Three of a Kind 3
Two Pair 2
Tens or Better 1
Average return* 99.1388%
Variance* 19.50156
*Calculated using "Bob Dancer Presents WinPoker" by Zamzow Software.

Actually, we've copied this pay table from Microgaming's version of Tens or Better, and promoted it to a "full pay" table. We will use it as a reference point when evaluating pay tables of other software providers. We don't exclude the possibility, that another software brand will offer a better pay table in the future, but at the time of writing this was the best Tens or Better pay table available.

The difference with a standard Jacks or Better pay table, besides the different payouts for similar hands, is obvious: instead of a Pair of Jacks, a Pair of Tens is now the lowest ranking hand.
