Progressive Video Poker
Video Poker was introduced in Las Vegas in the late 1970s. The first Video Poker games were *not* very popular, because they only paid out on Two Pairs or higher hands. The casinos soon realized they had to do something to increase the popularity of Video Poker. They did so by introducing a Video Poker game with a higher payback percentage, that is Jacks or Better, which also paid out on a pair of Jacks or higher, instead of only on two pairs or higher. Some casinos also added a progressive jackpot to their video poker machines. Both measures were crucially important in making Video Poker as popular as it is today. Progressive Video Poker is also offered by some online casinos. Microgaming, Playtech and Cryptologic offer progressive Jacks or Better, and Microgaming also offers a progressive variant of Deuces Wild, called Jackpot Deuces.
