Deuces Wild (Microgaming)

Review of Deuces Wild (Microgaming)

All deuces are wild in Deuces Wild: they can be used to complete any hand. This is the single most important difference between Jacks or Better and Deuces Wild, because Jacks or Better is a game without wild cards.

Microgaming offers two different versions of Deuces Wild: 1 hand Deuces Wild and 4 hand Deuces Wild (also known as Deuces Wild Power Poker). The screenshot above is taken from the power poker version. The pay tables for these two games are listed in the table below, along with a full pay Deuces Wild pay table. Differences with the full pay table have been highlighted in bold.

Hands 1 Hand 4 Hands Full Pay
Royal Flush (without deuces) 800 800 800
Four Deuces 200 250 200
Wild Royal Flush (with deuces) 25 45 25
Five of Kind 16 15 15
Straight Flush 13 9 9
Four of a Kind 4 4 5
Full House 3 3 3
Flush 2 2 2
Straight 2 2 2
Three of a Kind 1 1 1

Microgaming's 1 Hand Deuces Wild differs from a full pay Deuces Wild pay table as follows:

A Five of a Kind pays 16 coins instead of the standard 15 coins.
A Straight Flush pays 13 coins instead of the standard 9 coins.
A Four of a Kind pays 4 coins instead of the standard 5 coins.

So you get paid more for a Five of a Kind and a Straight Flush, but less for a Four of Kind. This results in an average return of 97.95%.

Microgaming's 4 Hand Deuces Wild (Power Poker) differs from a full pay Deuces Wild pay table as follows

Four Deuces pays 250 coins instead of the standard 200 coins.
A Wild Royal Flush pays 45 coins instead of the standard 25 coins.
A Four of a Kind pays 4 coins instead of the standard 5 coins.

The pay-out for Four Deuces and a Wild Royal Flush is increased, at the cost of a lower payout for a Four of a Kind. This results in an average return of 99.37%.

If you had to choose between Microgaming's 1 hand and 4 hands version of Deuces Wild, you would choose the 4 hand Power Poker version, based on the higher expected return. Keep in mind though, that the Power Poker version is much more volatile, because it's variance is higher. This means you need a bigger bankroll to actually realize it's higher return, because your bankroll will fluctuate up and down more.
